The Marist Social Foundation + byEfrainMogollon for a good cause
In Venezuela there is a young and vulnerable population living on the streets of our country, unfortunately fated by their environment and their daily lives. BYEFRAINMOGOLLON is a design firm setting as a value and mission to bring a positive impact, aiming to diminish this social crisis. In Maracay, Venezuela, the Fundación Social Marista (The Marist Social Foundation) has created educational programs dedicated to situations of particular gravity and neglect, in alliance with the Centro de Educación y Capacitación Laboral (Cecal – The Workforce and Education Center) and Escuela Técnica San Marcelino Champagnat (The San Marcelino Champagnat Technical School), developing innovative youth programs to offer children and teens the live and work opportunities they deserve.
Through this initiative. BYEFRAINMOGOLLON is part of an action plan with the department of sewing and stitching in CECAL, which has resulted in skill building for pattern and confection work in a paid B.E.M. The final rabbit-shaped piece of this program was crafted from the odds and ends fabric used in the firm’s CANNES FW ’17 collection.
The idea was inspired in 2011, by the year of the rabbit in the Chinese horoscope. The rabbit symbolizes grace, health, kindness and sensibility. The project used scrap material from the Capri collection, and its goal was to also raise awareness about sustainable fashion practices. The main objective was to create a positive impact both socially and environmentally.
The earnings are shared with the Marist Social Foundation, which contribute to fund a project to build the high school campus for the Escuela Técnica Marcelino Champagnat, in the city of Maracay, Efraín Mogollón’s home city. This initiative was a chance to give back to the place which saw BYEFRAINMOGOLLON come to life.
